Obama Slowly Destroying America

In the vein of Michelle Obama, today, for the first time in my life, I am embarrassed of my country.

Today, Obama will sign an executive order, rather than suggest legislation, granting federal benefits to same-sex partners of government employees.  This despite the fact that a majority of Americans believe it to be a lifestyle choice and immoral.  This effectively forces those who are opposed and offended by this choice to pay for this choice.  This all the while religion is forced out of the public arena because it might offend someone.

Between this and his extreme liberal abortion policies, he is engaging in the kind of policy that Rev. Jeremiah Wright would suggest gives God reason to condemn America.  Yet, Wright is only concerned with the Jews.  So, yes, I'm very disappointed and embarrassed of what used to be America.

America seems lost now.

Where McCain Has Failed

In the recent weeks, John McCain and Sarah Palin have been trying to expose the link between Sen. Obama and ACORN and Ayers.  This is something they should have been doing all along.  They also need to continue to push on his associations with Rev. Wright and Tony Rezko.  People need to be made aware of these.

The problem and where they have failed is they are allowing the Illinois Senator to escape the fray without a hitch.  Why?  They are allowing him to make his case that it's not important and that he is not responsible for their actions.  Obama is able to deflect every accusation and make the Republican ticket seem bitter, angry and as though they are grasping at the wind.  They are allowing him to turn the tables.

What do they need to do?  They need to show the American public why these associations matter and why they make Obama a very, very dangerous pick.  They need to point out that it's not just one association or chance meeting, but a pattern of connections.  They need to show that this man has picked to maintain relationships with people who have horrible backgrounds.  They need to show that these associations continue for long terms.  They need to show that Obama has the worst judge of character, at best, of any one who has ever run for the Presidency.

If they cannot, or will not, make this case, they will continue to be viewed as negative and desparate.  The American people will not make the connection that this man will make horrible choices for such positions as judges and cabinet posts.  They will not see how dangerous this man truly is.

Obama Doesn't Get It...Character Matters

It seems that every day we hear about a new "association" of Sen. Obama's.  Whether it's a radical, hate filled pastor and mentor of twenty years, or a buddy-buddy, homegrown terrorist, or a radical perpetrator of voter fraud, this guy just has too many skeletons in his closet.  Yet, he seems to brush each one off as if none of it matters.

Each time he is confronted with a new problem association, he just claims that it doesn't matter and we should just move on.  He claims that he had no knowledge of their radical behavior and we can't blame him for the flaws of those around him.  He wants us to shurg off the faults of his associates since they are not his faults.  And, the MSM is buying it hook, line and sinker.

The problem is, character matters.  It does matter who he hangs out with.  It does matter the character of those he chooses to associate with.  It does matter, because it shows, at the very least, a very, very poor judge of character.  And, he wants us to trust him to appoint a few judges to the Supreme Court.

I hope the American people will wake up and smell the foul Chicago machine stench.  I hope they will realize, if this guy can hang around a pastor for twenty years, listening to his sermons, calling him a mentor, and not realize this guy hates American more than Osama bin Laden, he is either too dumb to inhabit the White House, or he is too crooked.  I hope they realize that if he will associate with a group like ACORN, who so disdain America that they are willing to trash our most cherished right, that of voting, and not notice their illegal acts, he is either too blind to be trusted with the power that comes with the Presidency or he is too evil.

I hope McCain, Palin, FoxNews and others will continue to press the "association" issue, otherwise, we may be headed down a road that we, as a country, do not want to go.  And, the world will pay the price along with us.

Obama Supporters Want To Talk Religion?

It seems the left has found a new angle to attack Gov. Palin: her religion.

With nothing else sticking, the left now want us to look at the religious background of Gov. Palin.  She comes from a conservative background in the Assemblies of God.  This is a denomination which believes the Bible is accurate and authoritative.  I know, I am one.

So, the left is telling us that this should disqualify her to be part of a national ticket.  Just because she believes the same way as a majority of Americans, the left is worried she'll lead us in the wrong direction and into fanatical thought.  They are worried that her beliefs might affect her ability to be unbiased.

This coming from a group who supports a man who spent 20 years under the teaching of Rev. Jeremiah Wright.  Obama didn't just sit under his radical, hate-filled teaching for 20 years, he listed this hatemonger as a mentor, someone he wants to be like and who helps him formulate his life.  Rev. Wright makes any Assembly of God "radical" pastor and teaching look quite tame by comparison.  Yet, the left wants us to worry about Gov. Palin's association with a group that believes the Bible means what it says.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright Must Be Right

This morning the ever sane Rosie O'Donnell stated that she felt that the Rev. made sense.  So, that settles it, he must be right.  Right?

What does make sense is that one fruit cake agrees with another fruit cake.  The fact that Rosie agrees should make the Rev. Wright rethink his statements.  I know if I said something and Rosie agreed, I'd recant and begin speaking in the opposite direction.

Rosie is even further out in left field than Rev. Wright.  Her views on social norms are, or should be, counter to everything Wright believes.  Her views on 9/11 are even further out there than the Revs.  She doesn't simply think we got what we deserved, we had an active part in it.

Unfortunately, the Reverend's views are not really that far off from Rosie's.  While she is decidedly anti-Christian, his views are not exactly mainstream.  When he can twist a statement from Jesus to support Islam as a "way" to salvation, which Jesus never intended, he can twist the Scriptures to support any wacko idea he has.  Rosie is anti-American, which lines up directly with Rev. Wright.

This should shed more light, then, on just how out of touch Rev. Wright is.  The fact that Obama could sit under his teaching, calling him an important mentor, for 20 years and only now denounce him, I think proves that one thing the Rev. said is true; Obama's denouncement was just political, something he had to say.

Taking Responsibility

The pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, Jeremiah Wright, is in the news, primarily because he is the pastor of the church Presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama attends.  Were it not for this fact, he would most likely occupy the thoughts of average Americans no more than Pastor Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas.  Yet, here he is, in the spotlight, making statements that should embarrass the Senator.

Of course, we are told that Sen. Obama cannot be held responsible for the statements of his pastor.  This is true.  The Senator has not more control over what the man says than anyone else.  What I do have a problem with is the way he handles what is said.

Every Sunday I attend the church of my choice.  I enjoy the worship service, the people, and the messages which come from the pulpit on a weekly basis.  The pastor is an intelligent man, wise in Bible history and interpretation.  I learn a lot from sitting under his teaching.

After watching the video of Pastor Wright, though, I have to admit, if my pastor delivered a sermon like that, I would have to approach him afterwards and question what that had to do with the Bible.  If it happened on a regular basis, I would most likely find a new church.

While it is true that we are not responsible for what someone else says, we are responsible for ourselves if we continue to sit under such talk.  By continuing to stay in that church, the Senator opens himself up to scrutiny as to whether he actually believes what is said and feels the same way.  If he does not find it offensive enough to leave, does he really find it offensive at all?

A pastor such as Pastor Wright, just like Pastor Phelps, has a responsibility to God and the people they lead to preach and teach from the Word of God.  When they step outside of the parameters set forth in the Bible, they have stopped speaking for God.  They then do more harm to their congregations than good, and should be confronted by their members.  If those members say nothing and continue to sit under such teaching, they become responsible for what they are hearing.  They open themselves to ridicule and criticism.

Unlike Pastor Phelps, whose congregation is almost entirely family, Pastor Wright's congregation chooses to attend and listen each week.  By doing so, they support and approve of such racist and damaging speech.  They, then, are responsible for every word that comes from that pulpit, Senator Obama right along with them.
